Before purchasing your next liner, know what kind of liner you are buying. All Reprocessed UHMW is not the same. As a general rule, the cheaper the UHMW product, the lower quality the liner. Virgin UHMW is used in the most demanding applications. It’s known for its durability and dependability. It is the most expensive; and often, the most cost-effective. The upfront cost of Reprocessed UHMW is less than Virgin UHMW. It may be suitable in less demanding applications. Reprocessed UHMW is made by mixing lower priced recycled or used UHMW with virgin UHMW. The lower cost recycled UHMW can be recognized by the speckles in the samples.
As can be seen by the different amount of speckles in the samples of Reprocessed UHMW, there is no standard stating what the mix of recycled to virgin should be. Some manufacturers choose to use more recycled, while others choose to use more virgin. A liner with more virgin will act more like a virgin liner; it will wear better, last longer and be able to be used in more demanding applications. The opposite is true for a liner with more recycled; it will produce a cheaper liner that will wear out faster, need to be replaced more often and should only be used in less demanding applications.
So, take another look at the samples. Or, we can mail you a set of our samples, and you can compare them to samples you have. Look at the consistency and the amount of speckles in each sample. You can see they don't look the same, and they also won't wear the same.
